About Befriending Betty

Hello, I'm Michelle, founder and owner of Befriending Betty.  I'm an ex-nurse, with a degree in Professional Practice and have over twenty years of experience in caring for people.

 

The idea for my business came about when my grandma "Betty" became less independent and started to need some extra help around the house.  Seeing my family try to juggle their own commitments alongside my grandma's increasing needs, started me thinking about the need for a service that supports families and older adults in these circumstances.  At the same time my nursing career was becoming increasingly demanding and less fulfilling, with ever increasing amounts of paperwork and less time to spend doing what I loved the most, which is spending time with people.

I wanted to remain working in an environment that utilised the communication side of my nursing skills, so I set up Befriending Betty to help promote independence in the community and foster support to families and individuals.  I pride myself on a professional service with my clients needs and wellbeing at the heart of everything that I do.
